The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has gone Hollywood!
Several celebrities have embraced the cold and wet challenge of dumping a bucket of ice water over their heads in an attempt to raise awareness for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a disease that can cause full muscle paralysis and respiratory failure as nerve cells in the brain and spinal chord eventually degenerate and die.
Participants who take part in the challenge have to either pour a bucket of ice water over their heads in 24 hours or donate $100 to ALS research. So far, the movement has raised over $42 million U.S., compared with $2.1 million between July 29 and Aug. 21 last year. Several of the celebrities who have taken part in the ice bucket challenge so far have also donated to the cause.

Aw, Harry! When you do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, you’re supposed to let the WHOLE bucket of water empty on YOU! Not run away!!

After being challenged by Anne Hathaway, Kristen Stewart took part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge with her Equals co-star Nick Hoult and their pal Scott Fahrendorf. However, they added a twist to the challenge by dunking their heads into the water for 10 seconds before dumping the rest of the water over their heads. And to preserve water, they also used dirty bath water. “Please be considerate of California water conservation,” Stewart says at the end of the video.

Chris Evans certainly gave Benedict Cumberbatch some competition for best ALS Ice Bucket Challenge video. Understanding that it took him more than 24 hours to accept the challenge, Evans filled multiple buckets of water with ice and got dressed for the occasion. He also made the task a family affair by getting them to dunk water on him! So cute!!
